French Press
For this page, we are using a Bodum 34oz French Press Brewer. The French Press is consistent, reliable, and a fan favorite. There are plenty of other brands of French Presses, but try to choose one whose size fits for how much coffee you’d like to brew.
Equipment:
Coffee
Baratza Grinder (or ground coffee)
Bodum french press
Scale
Spoon For Stirring
Gooseneck kettle (you can use anything to pour, this special kettle just makes it easier)
Decanter or Large Mug
1) Warm and grind
Pour hot water into empty press to warm it up while you prepare coffee. Weigh 56g of coffee and grind it coarse, about the coarseness of bread crumbs.
2) add water
Discard Hot water and pour in ground coffee. Start the timer and start pouring hot water over coffee grounds, ensuring there are no more dry grounds. Fill press half way.
3) stir
At 1:00 use spoon to give the coffee a light stir. The purpose here is full saturation.
4) Add water
Fill the water to the top now and put the press cap on the French Press. Do not press at this time.
5) Press
At 4:00, go ahead and press the coffee downward. Press slowly and firmly.
6) Enjoy
Pour into your mug, thanks the coffee gods, and enjoy!
